GF Get Found on ChatGPT

SEO pillar

ChatGPT SEO

ChatGPT SEO is the work of getting your business named, cited, or recommended when someone asks an AI assistant for options. It is not a ranking exercise: the goal is to be understood as a specific entity and to be the source an answer engine trusts, which means entity clarity, answer-first pages, and third-party proof.

Who is ChatGPT SEO for?

ChatGPT SEO is for founders, marketers, agencies, and content teams that want their company, tools, services, or expertise to be accurately understood and recommended by ChatGPT and similar answer engines.

What do you get?

  • Entity-focused page architecture
  • Answer-first service, category, and comparison pages
  • FAQ and breadcrumb structured data that matches visible content
  • Internal links between guides, tools, vendors, and industry pages

How long does it take?

A basic technical and content cleanup can ship in 1-2 weeks. Meaningful answer-engine visibility usually takes 60-120 days because crawlers, citations, and third-party proof need time to refresh.

What does it cost?

DIY work can start with internal content time and free validation tools. Paid software commonly ranges from low monthly plans to enterprise contracts; agency programs often start in the low thousands per month.

Prerequisites

You need crawlable public pages, a clear description of the entity being optimized, access to update metadata and schema, and a list of real buyer questions or prompts to prioritize.

Decision criteria

Make every important entity unambiguous: name, category, location, audience, offer, and proof.

Write pages that answer the question first, then explain criteria, trade-offs, examples, and next steps.

Use schema only when it matches visible page content, and support claims with credible citations.

The checklist this site runs before publishing a page

The most useful thing we can add to a ChatGPT SEO guide is the one we enforce on ourselves. Every page on this site is checked at build time, and the build fails if a check does not pass. It is a short list, and it is the list we would hand to anyone doing this work:

  1. One H1, unique title, unique description

Not two H1s because a logo is also an H1, and not the same title on forty regional pages with only the place name swapped.

  2. A canonical that matches the sitemap

Same trailing-slash form in the canonical tag, the sitemap entry, and every internal link pointing at the page. If those three disagree, you have given an answer engine a reason to pick a different URL than you intended.

  3. Structured data that matches the visible page

No FAQ markup for questions a reader cannot see on the page, and no rating or price in schema that is not stated in the HTML. Markup a crawler cannot reconcile against the page is worse than no markup.

  4. The answer present in the HTML itself

If the direct answer only appears after JavaScript runs, an assistant that does not execute scripts never sees it. The whole point is to be quotable from raw HTML.

  5. One clear next step on commercial pages

A directory page that lists forty vendors and offers no way to act on that list has failed the reader, and it is one of the most common problems we find when we audit our own pages.

  6. Claims that trace to a source

Where a number appears on this site it is either computed from the directory's own records at build time, or attributed. Where we do not have the data, the page says so. This is the check that most ChatGPT SEO advice fails.

None of this is exotic. It is ordinary technical hygiene, applied consistently, which is a different thing from knowing the tricks.
